What Is Yard Leak Repair?
A yard leak occurs when a buried supply line, irrigation pipe, or sewer connection develops a crack or break beneath your lawn, sending water into the surrounding soil instead of where it belongs. These leaks often show up as an unexplained soggy patch, unusually green grass in one area, or a drop in water pressure at outdoor fixtures.
Our technicians use acoustic locating equipment designed specifically for underground lines, allowing us to pinpoint the leak's location without digging test holes across your entire Alma, NE yard.
A leaking yard line is easy to dismiss since it does not directly affect anything inside your home, but the wasted water shows up clearly on your utility bill, and prolonged saturation can eventually affect nearby foundations, walkways, or landscaping investments. Addressing a yard leak promptly protects both your water costs and the outdoor spaces you have invested time and money into over the years.
Why You Need It
A yard leak wastes water continuously and can quietly inflate your water bill for months if it goes unnoticed, since the water simply disappears into the ground rather than pooling visibly in most cases.
Left unaddressed, the constant saturation can also undermine nearby hardscaping, erode soil around your foundation, or create conditions that attract pests to the affected area.
Buried irrigation and supply lines across Alma, NE yards often sit at varying depths depending on when a property was landscaped, and older installations sometimes used materials that do not hold up as well to decades of soil movement as what is used today. Locating equipment helps us account for this variation quickly, so we are not guessing at depth or material before we ever start digging.
Our Process
Symptom Assessment
We review where you have noticed sogginess, pressure changes, or unusual grass growth to narrow down the likely leak area.
Acoustic Locating
Specialized listening equipment detects the sound of escaping water underground, pinpointing the leak's location precisely.
Targeted Excavation
We dig a small, confirmed area rather than trenching across the entire yard to reach the leak.
Repair & Backfill
The damaged section is repaired, tested under pressure, and the excavation backfilled and leveled.
What to Expect
Locating typically takes under an hour, and the repair itself is often completed the same visit once the leak is confirmed. We keep excavation to the smallest area necessary to reach the damaged pipe.
After the repair, we test the line under pressure to confirm the fix holds before backfilling and restoring the surface as closely as possible to its original condition.
Once the leak source is located, we discuss whether a targeted spot repair or a longer section replacement makes more sense given the age and material of your yard lines. Landscaping is restored as closely as possible to its original condition, and we walk you through basic signs to watch for that might indicate a similar issue developing elsewhere on the property in the future.
